Dr. Rex B. Demafelis is currently the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension and Professor 10 in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He has taught and served for over 35 years and has received various awards for his excellence in teaching and research. As one of the most prolific researchers in UPLB, some of his researches includes biofuels production and policy development, life cycle assessment, carbon footprint, water footprint, and energetics. He also served as a technical adviser and consultant to various international and local institutions and companies
