Maria Victoria Migo-Sumagang is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). She received her BS in Chemical Engineering (magna cum laude) and her MS in Chemical Engineering Major in Pollution Engineering (recipient of the Academic Achievement Award) from UP Los Baños, and her PhD in Chemical Engineering from De La Salle University Manila. She is a registered Associate ASEAN Engineer and a member of the National Research Council of the Philippines. She has published peer-reviewed journals on rice straw for bioenergy and its life cycle assessment, as well as co-authored book chapters on sustainable rice straw management. Her current research involves the application of process integration to carbon dioxide removal portfolios, also known as negative emissions technologies (NET) portfolios, for a systems-level outlook on these technologies. She has published peer-reviewed journals on this topic and co-authored a correspondence article in Nature Computational Science about computing optimal NET portfolios. She was awarded multiple best posters and best presentations for her research on NET portfolios.
