The Dept of Chemical Engineering, CEAT-UPLB is proud to announce its 2022 CEAT Distinguished Young Alumnus in Chemical Engineering awardee, in the person of Engineer Joshua Bon Roco.
The Dept of Chemical Engineering, CEAT-UPLB is proud to announce its 2022 CEAT Distinguished Young Alumnus in Chemical Engineering awardee, in the person of Engineer Joshua Bon Roco.
Engr. Roco obtained his BS in Chemical Engineering degree from UPLB in 2016. He is currently pursuing his Masteral degree in Environmental Engineering and Management at the De La Salle University.
Since graduating from his chemical engineering degree, Engr. Roco has been active in leadership positions in organizations that promote professional advancement and excellence in chemical engineering. He is also active in organizations that are related to his advocacy in environmental protection, and environmental entrepreneurship.
He is the Vice Chairman of the Philippine Technological Council-Young Engineers Section. At the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE), he is the chairman of the PIChE Young Engineers Section and the president of the PIChE CAMANAVA Chapter.
In December 2020, Engr. Roco co-founded a company called, AnthroServ, Inc., where he also serves as a member of its Board of Directors, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the CEO of the company, he manages operations of design and consultancy services of design firm, catering to various engineering designs and operations for the environment and manufacturing. He also leads the innovation management of the company, which has led to the development of a low-cost modular wastewater treatment plant, specially designed for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
A string of certification awards, as well as recognitions from different award-giving bodies have been given to Engr. Roco. Among these important awards are the 2022 Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer Award (Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers), and the 2020 Employee of the Year (Maynilad Water Services, Inc). He has been conferred as an Associate ASEAN Engineer, a Middle Level Chemical Engineer, and a certified Safety Officer 2 (SO2).
The many achievements of Engr. Roco, at his young age, serves to inspire our chemical engineering students to aspire for excellence in the service to society.
